A circuit is a complete loop where electricity flows. Today you will build one using paper cut-outs.

Battery (the power source) · Wire (the path) · Switch (controls flow) · Light bulb (the load that lights up)

Cut out the 4 component cards on the next page. Arrange them in a loop on your desk so electricity can flow from the battery, through a switch, through a bulb, and back to the battery.

Show your teacher when your switch is OPEN (no light) and CLOSED (light on). Explain in your own words what changed.

Source · Wire · Load · Switch · Circuit · Open · Closed · Series · Parallel

Draw a circuit you might find in your own home. Label the source, wires, switch, and load.
